we need to consider personality factor to learn a second language.
some of this factors are:
- Emphaty (putting yourself into someone else's shoes)
- emotional state.
- Cognitive side.
- Self Esteem, this is connected with risk taking, inhibition and ego defense.
- Anxiety, there are 2 types.. the first one is Trait, this is permanent, they always feel anxious, every moment.. and the second one, State, this is only in situations, not always.
- Affection: Receiving, Responding, Valuing (thing, person, behavior), Organization (belief), Value System (world view)
something that we need to consider is if the student is introvert or extrovert.
Second language acquisition involves a new identity.
Teachers can have a positive and influential effect on linguistic performance and the emotional well being of the student.
Try to design a personality quiz that provides data related to the factor (s) which concern you the most. How can these results influence your planning and relationship with the students?
